Neil appeared on Comedy Central's The Daily Show, hosted by Jon Stewart, on March 08, 2006. He discussed the new film "Heart of Gold", getting out of touch, and his dogs. Screen shots, links and commentary.
So guess who has 11 Grammy Awards and who has zero? Neil or Emmylou?
On January 23, 2006, the "Heart of Gold" film premeired at the Sundance Film Festival. Neil Young and film director Jonathan Demme arrive at the film premeire.

Thrasher's Wheat commemorates the 25th anniversary of Lennon's death by remembering another seminal event which took place on September 21, 2001, just days after the 9-11 terror attack on the U.S.
Neil Young performed John Lennon's song "Imagine" on the broadcast musical benefit telethon "America: A Tribute to Heroes". Simulcast live from London, New York and Los Angeles on the four major TV networks and the Internet, the program was seen by an estimated 89 million viewers.
Neil performed songs from "Prairie Wind" on Conan O'Brien Late Night show for a week (November 1-4, 2005). Song list, screeen captures, interview highlights, and comments.
Neil's been on publicity whirlwind out promoting the new "Prairie Wind" CD. We have interviews, videos, promo material, and an upcoming film by Johnathan Demme to support the album.
So what do the critics think? Do they sit alone? Are we no better than you from what we've shown?
On September 10, Neil Young performed two songs on the React Now hurricane Katrina benefit. The final song of the broadcast was a cover of Fats Domino's "Walking To New Orleans". And Neil appeared rather angry and impassioned in his delivery.

Anticipation builds for the upcoming concerts in Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium -- the "Mother Church of Country Music" -- on August 18th & 19th.
Neil will be joined by special guests, including Emmylou Harris, Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns, the Fisk University Jubilee Singers and Carl Gorodetsky and the Nashville String Machine.
The concerts will be filmed by Jonathan Demme who shot the "Sleeps With Angels" videos and commissioned Neil for the Academy Award nominated title track of "Philadelphia".

The Live8 concerts ended with Neil Young and an all-star finale of "Rockin' In The Free World" in Toronto, Canada. Quite a fitting conclusion for a day in music history. Neil performed a brand new song "When God Made Me" on grand piano with the Fisk University Jubilee Singers.
Thrasher's Wheat's Photo Of The Moment is from last year's Bridge School Benefit Concert.
Great photos by Craig Abaya of the Bridge School 2004 concert. Like this shot of Neil, Pegi, and Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam on "Harvest Moon".
Neil's been out playing Train Man again.
This time Neil appears to be operating under the handle "Clyde Coil" in a Lionel Train promotional video. The video has all the big budget hallmarks of Shakey Pictures. Last month, Neil was spotted attending a model train show in Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to Steve Cross for his winning entry in the Greendale Songbook Contest.
Steve has a great story about chasing Neil Young and Crazy Horse for their autograph on a "Feedback is Back" poster (see above).
The tale takes place on the Greendale tour at the Starlight Amphitheatre in Kansas City, KS on August 9th, 2003. While not all of our heroes fare well in this saga, Steve and his brother will not be denied!

In March 1999, Neil Young inducted former Beatle Paul McCartney into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. During Neil's induction speech he said:
After Neil handed Paul the Hall of Fame statue, Paul commented: "Thank you all. I love Neil!"
Over on the spanish forum Guitarramania.com, some great photos of Neil's guitar Old Black. This photo is amazing, with guitar tech Larry Cragg showing the extreme wear and abuse which Old Black has suffered over the years from "Hurricane", "Down by The River", and other feedback laden finales that leave him lying in shreds on the stage floor.
Visually, Ol Black is the electrical equivalent to Willie Nelson's battered "Trigger" -- his well-worn Martin acoustic guitar.

A new video for "Rockin' In The Free World" directed by filmmaker Michael Moore has been released. The video intercuts footage from the film Fahrenheit 9/11 and performance footage of Neil Young and Crazy Horse performing the song on the 2003/4 Greendale tour. See screen shots, commentary, the video link, and express your opinion on the new video for the song.

At the Vote For Change Tour in Toledo, OH on October 2, Neil teamed up with Pearl Jam and Peter Frampton on "Rockin' In The Free World".
I must say I love the Jose Cuerve tequila banner behind the stage. Because Tonight's The Night.

It's that time of year for another Annual Bridge School Benefit Concert. This year's artists include Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tony Bennet, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, Sonic Youth, Los Lonely Boys, and Tegan & Sara.
Here's a look back at photos of last year's Bridge School concert.

White River Amphitheater, Auburn, WA - September 18, 2004
Farm Aid 2004 had another big year at the sold out concert with founders Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp, along with the Dave Matthews Band, Lucinda Williams, and Steve Earle at White River Amphitheater in Auburn, WA.
Well, this seemed like fun after going through another 9/11 anniversary. More like a really good dream -- Neil & the Horse in a little roadside church -- and a free concert, too!
A bunch of Neil sign pictures from the road over the years. Some are kinda funny. Others, just innnaresting.
Cause there's a warning sign on the road ahead....
Well, this photo is pretty cool, I must admit. Neil & Sun Green Getting Air on "Be The Rain"!!! Most Awesome. Thrasher was there just a few feet away and actually saw Neil's feet leave the ground.
I've never seen a photo of Neil off the ground while playing -- he's usually pretty flat-footed. There are few if any other eyewitness accounts of such a moment or photo. So when I saw Neil take a couple of hops, I clicked and hoped I caught the moment - Henri Bresson-like. So pretty appropriate for the first Thrasher's Wheat Photo of the Moment.
The Radio City Music Hall Greendale shows were amazing. More photos of concert & fests.
Hey, if you've got a cool Neil Young photo, let me know at

and I'll post it! Cool. Thanks!
